Leila's (and my) school had its fundraiser this fall. For the second year in a row, the Apex Fun Run Crew came to the school and ran the fundraising efforts. What a great event! I dread the fundraisers from the past such as selling cookie dough and wrapping paper. This one is so much easier on families and the children have a blast trying to outrun their friends! Leila ran 39 laps this year (it isn't a regulation track lap), but when we did the math she ran ended up running over two miles in thirty minutes. Not too shabby!
Our school mascot, George E. Wolf, was there to cheer the kiddos on.
You can see one of the Apex athletes in this last picture. The whole deal is pretty great, but what I really like is the character lessons that the athletes provide every single day! Each classroom is assigned one of the three athletes. The athletes come in the classroom for 10 minutes each day for 8 days to teach about leadership characteristics. They get the kids all pumped up and the whole school speaks the same language for two week. So awesome!
