Leila's Dance Recital

Leila had her dance recital on Father's Day Weekend. It's her 4th recital now so she is an expert! The picture above is her 1st recital (age 4) and this year's recital (age 7). As usual, she had quite the cheering section in the audience: Mom and Dad, Gramma and Papa, Grammy and Granddad and Aunt Lynn. Her class danced to Happy.  Leila smiled the brightest of the bunch and had her routine down pat!

First Grade No More

Our girl is no longer a first-grader! She is officially in the 2nd grade. Leila did first grade with gusto! We are just as proud as can be of her many accomplishments. We are thankful for her amazing, caring teacher, Pam. Leila knew she was loved each and every day in her classroom and Pam challenged Leila to learn new things in every subject.

What a change from September to June!

Pedis for the Whole Fam

Leila and I took Christopher for his first ever pedicure! We knew he would LOVE it! Leila was tickled pink that Chris agreed to get a flower painted on his big toe. Of course he would! Why wouldn't he??

Extra, Extra! Read All About It!

Leila borrowed Christopher's hat, made a newspaper article and danced around the house as a newsie last weekend. Silly kid!

Backyard Play

We have had an amazing June here in the PNW (we can probably thank global warming for that!). The temps have been super hot for this time of year and we have even been able to spend some time playing in the water already.

This girl is always happy when the sprinkler is on and the sun is out!

Seattle Duck Rides

The day after our Rainiers game, we took Mom and Jim to Seattle to ride the Ducks. I LOVE this outing so much! Our captain this trip was Bob Frapples...ha ha. We had a GREAT time!

Capt. Frapples let Leila come be his first mate while we sailed on Lake Union.

After the Ducks, we spent some time exploring the new play area behind EMP.

And....Leila has a new future occupation...a Duck Boat captain.

Rainiers Baseball

Mom and Jim came up the weekend before my birthday to help me celebrate. Jim had a super idea and found a Rainiers game that had an early start and wouldn't keep us out too late for Leila. The seats were amazing and the game was great! Baseball on a sunny day...can't beat that!

Lining up to run the bases after the game! This is usually a Dad and Leila thing, but I had to fill in.

Dance Costume

Leila's tap class is dancing to Happy this year. Picture Day took place in May. She looked pretty dang cute...let's cross our fingers that her hat stays put during the recital in June!

King of Norway Visits PLU

Leila and I woke up one Saturday morning and headed over to PLU to see the King of Norway! We waited in Red Square, flags waving to say hello and catch a glimpse of Norwegian royalty. It was a quick walk-through and a tad disappointing if I'm being honest. Leila and I were so hoping he would be dressed to the nines, but he wore a plain, 'ole boring suit. I wonder when Sweden's Prince Carl Philip will visit!

Luckily, no one found out we are actually Swedish! Hee hee.

TOY - AGAIN!

If it seems like I am always sharing how wonderful my daughter and husband are, it's because I am! Christopher was nominated for and received the Rotary Teacher of the Year Award! He makes such a difference in the lives of so many high school students! We are so proud of him!

Prairie Girls

Leila cracks me up and melts my heart at the same time! In the fall, she had a dozen or so kids in her Gene Kelly Club at recess and this spring she has a bunch of kids playing Prairie! I love so much about this! Most of all though I love that she tells me over and over that "anyone can join Mom!" What a kiddo!

Graden Markers

On Mother's Day Weekend, Leila and I enjoyed being creative together. We gathered some rocks from our yard and washed them. After a couple base coats, we painted some of the veggies and fruits that we have planted in our garden. Look our cute garden markers!

MTFBWY 2015

Star Wars Day (May the 4th) is a big day in our house! We love us some Star Wars and we enjoy wishing folks a cheesy salutation:
May the FOURTH be with you!

And just to document that Weedie has loved Star Wars since she was tiny...playing with her buddies on the Blanket of the Force.

Harry Potter Magic

Harry Potter has earned one more fan in our house! Leila has officially fallen under his spell! We read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone together last month and she is all things HP ever since. She has decided that there should be a musical version of Potter and I wholeheartedly agree with her! She is hard at work on a book and score for the production. Currently, I believe she has about 10 songs composed.

While working in the yard, I found a branch that looked like a wand shape. Chris took it a step further and carved it for Leila. Now she can really play Hermione, wand and all!
We have two chapters to go in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets!

Edgerton's Got Talent

The Cowgirl Comedian was a HUGE HIT! The kids in the audience totally got the jokes and Leila had lots of laughs. She was quite MOOvelous!

SCT's Robin Hood

This ensemble was Leila's attempt to look like Maid Marian from Robin Hood. Hee hee. It was a fun show! Afterwards, we ran into Alexis from our soccer team in the middle of Seattle. The girls ran around the Children's Festival together for a bit.

Take Your Child to Work Day 2015

This year, Leila got to spend TYCTWD with Dad at the high school! The last two years, she has come with me, so I am not sure who was more excited, her or Christopher! She had a great time hanging with her favorite high schoolers.

Of course the light board is always a favorite too when visiting Dad!

Talent Show Auditions!

Leila decided she wanted to audition for Edgerton's Talent Show! I was so proud of her! I am so pleased that she has a "go for it" attitude! Last year in kinder, she made up a joke while riding the bus home. What does a cow use to color his artwork? His MOOOkers. She shared that with us while we were eating at Mod Pizza. So, I replied "Where's a cow's favorite place to eat dinner? MOOd Pizza!" Then we were off! Our family couldn't stop thinking of MOO jokes. Leila put them in an order she liked, memorized her routine and landed a place in the talent show line-up! Way to go, kid!
