Snow!

If you read the previous post, you know that it started snowing on the evening of the Daddy Daughter Dance. Well, it continued through the night and we woke up to a Winter Wonderland on Sunday morning. Chris stayed home from working on the play's set. So, we had the whole day to play in the snow together!

It was the perfect kinda snow to make snowballs, snowmen and even a snow fort!

By night, the snow had melted so we were glad we took advantage of the day!

Daddy Daughter Dance 2014

Last year, Leila and Chris attended their first Daddy Daughter Dance and it was a huge hit! So, this year they were both set on going again. The dance took place downtown Puyallup in the Pioneer Park Pavilion. Chris came from school so Leila and I met him downtown, I took some pictures of the couple and then I sent them on their way. You can't tell in these first two pictures but it was snowing!

This picture was at our house as we were climbing into the car to meet Chris. It started snowing the EXACT moment we walked in the garage and didn't let up 'til much later in the night.

Here is snow scene when I picked Leila up. Chris had to go back to school to send the student helpers home and lock up the building.

Still snowing when we got home. Chris made it home safely and then I got to hear all the details of the dance. There were many dads and daughters there that Chris and Leila knew. They both had a wonderful time dancing the night away!

Their official Daddy Daughter Dance photo.
Until next year...

Bingo Night

Leila was so excited for Bingo Night! The school must have advertised it well because it was all she was talking about for the two weeks leading up to it! Chris was at school that night working on the show, so we invited Gramma. It was quite the turn out! The gym was packed! We each came close to winning a bingo, but luck was not on our side. It was a great event!

Happy Heart Day

On Super Bowl Sunday, Leila and I spent some time at the park playing around and taking some photos. It was a cold, crisp afternoon and we were ready to head home after about an hour at the park. I'm glad she was game for a quick photo shoot. And we even made it home to see the second half of the Super Bowl.

Mackenzie is Seven!

Leila's friend, Mackenzie, turned 7 the first weekend of February. Leila was invited to her birthday. She had a skating party! Perfect! It was the first birthday of Leila's friends that Chris was bummed to miss. The picture of is Leila, Mackenzie and her sister, Anni.
This girl skated an entire lap around the rink with hardly any help from me or the wall! Her best skate, hands down, ever!

Math and Science Night

We love attending all of the various family nights that Leila's elementary hosts! The last week of January, they sponsored a Math and Science Night. We learned a new addition practice game, built a straw tower, watched some robots, sorted and graphed M&M's and tested whether given objects would sink or float. The principal took this picture of us while we were graphing M&M's (we used to work together, so she emailed it to me the next day!). Whew! What a full and fun evening!

Legos

What is Leila's favorite activity of late? Building Legos while watching The Sound of Music. She has started following Legos directions all by herself. Brilliant!

Mt. Rainier Snow

Over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, we spent Sunday at Mt. Rainier playing in the snow. We have done this for the past two years and it has always been pretty crowded, but not this year! Thanks to the Seahawks, who were playing a major game of the season (I can't tell you which one!), we practically had the mountain to ourselves! Thanks, Hawks!! We had a great time sledding, building an Olaf, having lunch in the lodge and throwing snowballs at each other.

We had one exhausted, little girl on the drive home!

Point Defiance

January is always the time when Leila and I find ourselves heading to the zoo for some mommy and daughter time. Every year, Chris is knee-deep in set construction on the winter weekends, so we make the most of our zoo membership and hit the zoo quite frequently. Plus, like people always say…the animals seem to be out and about on the colder days more so than warm days. I think that is true!

Hockey Kitty

 Look who's ready for hockey!
