Funny Kid

This week Leila told me something that I thought was pretty clever for a 3-year-old. This is the conversation that followed her clever comment:

Me: "Where did you learn how to be so smart??!!??!"

Leila: "From my Dad."

Me: "Your Dad?! What!? What about Mommy"

Leila: "Yep, Daddy learned me how to be smart. But Mommy learned me how to be cool!"

Who knew I was cooler than Chris? Ha!!

Happy Easter!

We celebrated Easter at our house this year. Christopher's parents and grandparents joined us for brunch and an egg hunt. Of course, we had to have an indoor egg hunt because of the weather. It was a good time nonetheless and we enjoyed being together and celebrating our risen Lord!

Scooping up eggs!

She found them all.
Leila couldn't get enough chocolate!
Gramma and Papa gave Leila a new Ariel bath toy.
Leila and GG.
Everyone went home at Leila's nap time, which was about 1:00. Chris and I did some cleaning up and watched a lot of hockey. That evening, the three of us read some stories from Leila's new Bible storybooks. It was the perfect end to a special day.

Dying Eggs for Easter

Christopher's parents joined us on Good Friday at our house to dye Easter eggs. We enjoyed pizza for dinner and then started to work. This year, Leila was completely involved and loved the whole process!
Gramma and Leila adding vinegar to each cup. Perfect job for the three-year-old was to count the 3 tablespoons for each tablet.

The crew - closest we could get to a smile from L at the moment.
Goofing with Daddy...as usual!

Is it ready yet?

The first egg - of course it was purple!
My sweet girl!

Finished eggs for the basket.

For dessert, Gramma brought mini Cinnabon rolls. Yum! Leila had never had one before. Here is her verdict:

Sweet Sixteen Birthday

We were invited to a sweet sixteen party for a family friend. It was a masquerade party and all of the guests were required to wear masks. It was a fun evening of dancing, laughing and eating yummy Mama Stortini's Italian food!

Leila had a mask, but it was a little challenging for her to see. The room was dark (as you can tell from the photos) and the mask made it even darker.
Singing on the dance floor. LOVE this! She is belting out "I See the Light" from Disney's Tangled!!
We had to take our masks off too....they got pretty warm.
Leila made a new friend at the party. The girls danced together all night!

Trying to get a 3.5 and 4.5 year-old to smile naturally AND look at the camera at the SAME time is quite the job!
Adorable little cat mask for Miss L.

Gardening with Papa

Papa Mike loves to work in his greenhouse. When he and Gramma saw a Disney princess gardening set, they couldn't pass it up! Together, he and Leila planted zinnias and dahlias. They have already started to sprout!

Putting the magic starter soil packets in the tray.

Adding some seeds.

Notice her crocs are on the wrong feet...of course!
Putting in the princess markers.

Leila's favorite part - spritzing them with water!

It eventually turned into spraying Mommy and Papa with the water!
All ready to watch them grow!
