Spit Spot!

Last weekend, we took Leila to her first Broadway musical! Mary Poppins is one of her all time favorite movies, so we hoped she would enjoy seeing it on stage. She definitely liked it, but there were some long pauses between numbers which caused some wiggling. At any rate, she came home singing all the songs and playing nonstop with her Mary Poppins doll that Gramma bought her. Special thanks to Gramma and Papa for letting us use their camera!!!! I charged my battery all night only to discover that I forgot a memory card. Ugh! Gramma and Papa saved the day! I would have been so bummed had I not been able to chronicle her first show!
The marquee.

Trying to take a picture of the three of us. Leila wanted Gramma in the picture, Chris is trying to make Leila smile by imitating her and I am ready for the camera!

One ticket to Mary Poppins!

We found our seats and waited for the show.
Intermission...notice the M&Ms in hand and mouth.

We can't wait to see Aladdin at the 5th Ave this summer with Leila!!

Stanley Cup Season

It is no secret that the Tavern Family lives and breathes Red Wings hockey!! Even the littlest Tav knows which team to root for during hockey season. Sadly, the season is now over for the Wings, but it was a good one and they reached the play-offs...again! It will be a long wait through the off season, but here's to next year!

Last Friday, the whole family wore red to support the team in the final game. In the morning before heading to daycare, Leila was trying to convince me to let her have a morning bike ride...yeah, like we had time.
Our little Brian Rafalski:

The Nail Salon

For Mother's Day, Shawn, Leila and I spent the morning at the nail salon. Shawn and I got pedicures and Leila had her first manicure. She knew exactly what she wanted: one hand pink and the other purple. She didn't waiver one bit! She can't wait to go back and get a pedicure in the kids' chair. I am not sure her ticklish little body will be able to stand that though! We had a great morning and then hit the mall for a bit. What a girly way to celebrate Mother's Day!!
Leila and Gramma
I couldn't leave this picture out even though it is very similar to the one above. Such an expression of joy and giddiness!

Princess Leila

I am little behind with the blogging of the Tavern Family happenings...so please forgive me for posting somethings out of order...

As much of the globe did, we enjoyed watching Prince William marry Kate! I had recorded two different broadcasts and was watching the second taping one afternoon when Leila got up from her nap. She snuggled right in on the couch and was caught up in the Royal Wedding in a matter of minutes. Since then she has been pretending to be Princess Kate.

Riding in her coach and waving.

On a different day...once again being the Duchess of Cambridge.

What a funny girl!

My Musicians

Chris is fully immersed in PLU's spring musical, The Full Monty, at the moment. This is opening week. Last week, he spent a lot of his free time writing chords and practicing numbers. I came around the corner to see this:
Chris gave Leila an old sheet of music so she could make notes on it while Dad worked on his score. Notice the pencils in their mouths. Precious!
They have the same "concentration face"!
