Our little Boo is sick!

After several days of a runny nose, a few nights of hoarse coughs and a trip to the doctor's office, we found out this morning that Leila has croup and an ear infection. She seems to be managing okay, but her day was really brightened by a surprise knock on the door. Gramma sent Leila her first bouquet of "Get Well Flowers". The flowers are bright and cheery, but I think Leila was more interested in the balloon with the doggy on it. She loves doggies, even though we don't have one.

This picture was taken right before she tipped the vase over and water poured out all over the carpet. No flowers were damaged...thank goodness!

A Lazy Saturday

On the weekends, we enjoy hanging out in our pajamas as late as possible. A few weekends ago, Leila was pleased with herself that she could sit in the rocker without anyone else. I love her crazy hair!

Guitar Hero for the "Wee"

Chris got a Wii for Christmas from his parents. He was very surprised and of course he received Guitar Hero to go with it! Seeing Daddy and Grampa with a guitar is nothing new, but since Christmas, Leila has seen Mommy, Gramma and Grammy playing with the game guitars. She wanted to play too! So we brought her guitar that Daddy and Grampa got her in August out to the front room to sit with the other guitars. Now whenever she feels like playing Guitar Hero, she grabs her instrument, asks Daddy to get his and they walk around the room playing. I think she might be better than some of the others family members! Any guesses who??

When Leila ends her concerts, she likes to bite her guitar. Hmmm.... Not sure where she got that idea?

MTFBWY!

Padawan training continued this evening. Before dinner, Leila brought her Star Wars beanies out and lined them up on the couch by Daddy. He has been teaching her the characters' names, so today they had a little review. She remembered each one. She has started saying "Doda" (Yoda) and "Bacca" (Chewbacca). Daddy couldn't be prouder!
We think the Force is strong with this one!

Doda and Bacca are definitely Leila's favorites at the time. Sorry to say that the droids (3PO and R2) have been replaced by the Jedi Master and the wookie. This is a big change from when she was 4-6 months old...she was in love with 3PO's shiny gold body. I am not sure if you can see it, but 3PO's face is discolored from all those times she would chew on him.

Hockey at Wrigley Field?

Most folks celebrate New Year's Day by watching football, but the sport of choice in the Tavern household on this special day is HOCKEY. The NHL hosted its 2nd Annual Winter Classic, which is a game that is held outdoors. The location and teams change each year. This year the game took place at Wrigley Field. The ballpark was transformed into a rink. Tickets sold out in an hour! Wow, talk about fans! It featured the Chicago Blackhawks and the DETROIT RED WINGS! We were pleased that our team skated away with a 6-4 victory!
Go Wings!

Whenever the boys from Detroit play, we all wear RED!
