Pioneer Girl

How did you celebrate Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthday this year? Oh, you didn't know her birthday was in February? Obviously, you don't live with this child! We celebrated watching Little House episodes, reading Little House books and dressing up as Laura. 

 And my favorite way to celebrate Laura was when Leila asked to wash to the dishes for me because "Laura would have down that for Ma". 

Piano Lessons

 Leila started piano lessons! It is so exciting for me to take her each week to Miss Darla's house and listen to her lesson. She is picking it up rather quickly! I am thrilled that she loves playing!

Skating Party

 Leila's friend, Mackenzie, turned eight in February. She chose a birthday party at Tiffany's Skate Rink. Leila had only been skating one other time. You would think that she would be somewhat confident on roller skates given that she can ice skate, but that was not the case! Thanks to Mackenzie's Mom, Sarah, Leila finally gave it a go and remembered that, oh yeah, this is fun!

Science Project!

 In January, our front room was taken over by Leila's science project! After brainstorming some topics that interested her, she finally settled on her testable question; How does the type of soil affect the plant's growth? She chose four types of soil, planted her bean seeds, labeled the soil samples and then set out to watch the results!

Ballard Locks

 When we visited the Soo, MI in 2009 we really enjoyed checking out the locks. So, we decided to head to Ballard this winter and see how these locks compared. It was a beautiful day! A gorgeous PNW winter day...crisp and bright. We even shed our jackets later in the afternoon. We spent hour after hour just watching the various sizes of boats coming in and out of the locks. It was so fascinating! 

 We can't wait to go back! 

American Girl Store

In mid-January, we traveled to Seattle to visit, for the first time, the American Girl Store. Wow! What a place! Gramma came with us and all three of us were super excited. They have practically anything you can imagine a baby doll might need!

What a Girl

Leila bought this necklace for her and me as a Christmas gift. I love it. It warms my heart to know that she loves me so much to have matching necklaces.
