Drama Banquet
The drama students were recognized at a ER Theater Banquet the last week of school. The seniors were celebrated and the kids watched a slide show of pictures from the year's productions. At the end of the evening the kids surprised Chris with a gift. Oh man, was he excited!! Truly, he has wanted one of these R2 coolers for a VERY long time! Who knew that one of the moms would be able to actually find one, let alone purchase it?!??! Wow!

Dance Recital
Leila took her first dance class this year. It was a ballet/jazz/tap combo class. Every Monday night for an hour she had class. She loved her teacher, Miss Mandi, and is excited about doing it next year. Simba is in the picture because Leila got a bit of stage fright on the morning of the rehearsal. Thank goodness Daddy suggested taking Simba along to watch her practice. Once Leila was on stage for 10 seconds, she was ready to go. Whew!
Rehearsal on the Saturday before the Big Day. The recital was at the Pantages Theater in Tacoma.

Shopping with a Rebel
So, who hasn't had trouble getting your child out the door for an errand? Many times it is challenging to convince Leila that she needs to go grocery shopping with me or run to the bank etc. We went to Elliott's birthday party the first weekend of June and the day before I told Leila that we needed to get him his present. I got the do-we-really-have-to-leave-right-now face?!?! Yes. "Can I wear a dress-up?" Sure. This is what she chose! Whatever works!!

Just Because
A couple of weekends ago, we decided to use our zoo membership and spend a few hours at the zoo. It was very spur of the moment. We headed out early and managed to stay dry! The camel is back for the summer so Leila wanted to take a ride! So much braver than last year.
Don't be fooled! She looks very brave and content feeding this budgie bird...but what you didn't see was what happened right after this photo was taken. She practically dropped the stick and the bird!
It seems like we always, and I do mean always, run into the Waller Family at PDZA!! This trip was no exception.

Farm Birthday
Our friend's son, Damon, turned one at the end of May. Aimee is also a teacher and one of her student's family own some farm animals. As part of Damon's celebration, her student's parents brought a few animals to the party for the kids to enjoy. The favorite was definitely the small pony!

Searching
The morning after Chris let Leila choose her favorite Star Wars figures, the two of them climbed up to the attic in search of Han and Luke in their Stormtrooper disguises. The fact that Leila willingly and excitedly spent time in the creepy attic proves how head over heels in love with SW she is! Truly!! She sat up there for probably 30 minutes watching her Dad pull box after box of SW stuff open.
The good news? Han and Luke were found!

Olympia Children's Museum
A few weeks ago Leila got it in her head that she needed to go to the Children's Museum in Olympia with Gramma. So she talked Gramma Shawn into taking her on one of her "Gramma Days" (Shawn comes to our house Wednesdays to watch L). They had a blast! Gramma even got some pictures of the day!!

Seattle Children's Theatre
We have so enjoyed our season subscription to Seattle Children's Theatre this year! We have already renewed for next year's season! We closed this year's productions with The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Stories. This show was done with puppets, blacklights and only two puppeteers. Amazing! Of course, the theater doesn't disappoint the little audience members when it come to yummy treats at intermission. This time Leila got to choose from a watermelon slice, an orange or an apple shaped cookie...each with a bite missing from the caterpillar!
We are looking forward to next year's season: Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat, Dot and Ziggy, The Wizard of Oz and The Adventures of Spot. It will be a long wait until October!!
